Residence
St. Louis, Missouri
This new house in the
Ladue suburb of St. Louis, was designed for entertaining, to showcase the owner's collection of art, and to respond to the
site conditions. The sloping site is split diagonally by a dry
stream drainage structure that results in the neighboring house
on one side being shifted towards the street and the other pushed
to the back of the site. The solution involved a compact form to
reduce construction costs and includes a large freestanding wall connected
to the house with a private deck that screens the back yard.
