The owner requested that the architect renovate the exterior and add a screen porch to a weekend retreat farmhouse located on the Michigan Shore. The design was based on the forms and aesthetic of local agrarian buildings such as barns and corncribs. The new screened porch is wood frame construction and is divided into separate sitting and dining areas. On the south side of the structure, a louver wall reduces solar gain and provides privacy.The building is finished with local stone used for an exterior fireplace and for dry set walls, and galvanized metal roofing.
